At The Evening Star
The Evening Star is a rollicking neighborhood gem located in the heart of Del Ray, and just a stone’s throw from both Alexandria’s Old Town and Washington DC. Opened in 1997, The Evening Star is well known for its friendly vibe and convivial setting and continues to shine with a fiercely loyal crowd. The Star combines gracious hospitality with a seasonal American menu, much of which features produce grown on the rooftop garden and by local farmers throughout the region. It’s all paired alongside a collection of nearly 1500 regional and international wine labels – sourced by Planet Wine, our shop next door – and an equally head-spinning number of craft beers and devilishly delicious cocktails. Fun, funky and always delicious, the Evening Star is your neighborhood place.
Our current service model is designed for your convenience and safety, and utilizes a QR code placed at every table from which you can place your order through and pay directly from. Our staff will be there very step of the way to help guide you though, of course. We currently offer seating both indoors in the dining room and outdoors in our attractively furnished backyard, and look forward to having you back to the Star!

The Front Porch at The Evening Star actually begins out front and winds its way around the building and into the lushly appointed backyard with plenty of al fresco seating and all manner of health and safety measures in place. So come join us for a post-work respite, if only for Edith’s now legendary Bourbon Slushies - or better still, stay for dinner or gather your friends and join us for our weekend brunch outdoors. Cool, calm and casual and delicious, the Front Porch is the place to be in Del Ray all summer long.

Planet Wine, situated next door to The Evening Star, is a down to earth wine shop located in the heart of Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood. We boast an impressive selection of nearly 2,000 wines and specialty beers hand selected by our staff of friendly and informed pros on the basis of craftsmanship and quality. From rare wines to value-driven finds, we have a bottle in mind for everyone. We are open daily for in-store browsing and home delivery.

The Evening Star is located at 2000 Mt. Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. We are open for indoor and outdoor dining, carryout, and local delivery:
Wednesday through Friday 4 PM until 10 PM
Saturday from 10 AM until 10 PM, Sunday from 10 AM until 9 PM
